The Zhen Fellows Program Asia Society is excited to announce the launch of the Zhen Fellows Program, which provides opportunities for future leaders from China and the United States to deepen their expertise on the important bilateral relationship within the broader context of Asia. For our first round of Fellows, we are seeking applications from exceptional Chinese young professionals (25–35 years old) to serve in-residence at Asia Society’s offices in New York or Washington for a period of six months. Ideal candidates have demonstrated leadership abilities and are currently involved in international affairs, nongovernmental organizations, the private sector, universities, think tanks, or journalism/media. Additionally, they should possess a strong interest in global engagement and contributing to a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges for improving Sino-American relations and fostering peace and prosperity in the Asian region. During the course of their residencies, Fellows will participate in a policy project, such as a Task Force, Study Group, or policy research initiative, in close coordination with Asia Society staff. Additionally, Asia Society relies on Fellows to provide their expertise via the media. Opportunities to present their work and/or participate in panel discussions, conferences, and other events at the Society’s Centers in the United States and Asia are also arranged. In these ways, Fellows play an important role in the Society's mission of promoting policy research and public education on Asia. Fellows will be considered employees of Asia Society, and will be eligible for employment benefits, including health insurance. Visa assistance is provided. The application process is highly competitive. To be considered for the 2012-13 Zhen Fellows class, applications must be received by July 19, 2012. Applications should include a resume, two writing samples, and a statement of interest not to exceed 2,500 words. The statement should describe the applicant’s area of interest/inquiry, outline a preliminary research plan for the selected topic, and explain the project’s potential for generating new ideas for policy solutions.
